SESSION #2:

SESSION #1: Introduction

In this session, Hebrews 11:1(NIV) states, “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”  Faith starts with believing in God’s character, that he is who he says he is. Faith ends with believing in God’s promises, that he will do what he says he will do.

We learned that biblical faith includes knowing the truth Romans 10:17, believing it Hebrews 11:6, trusting in God personally Proverbs 3:5-6, acting on that trust James 2:26, and persevering through life’s challenges Hebrews 10:23. When these elements come together, faith becomes a powerful, life-transforming force that connects us to God and His eternal promises.

We then discussed WHY we should work on our faith. Even though having faith connects us with God’s power, peace, purpose for our lives, and allows us to face challenges and to trust in outcomes we cannot yet see; we also learned that Faith doesn’t look the same for everyone because we are all at different levels, in our faith.  It is these LEVELS of faith that we’re going to be studying.

SESSION #2: The Levels of Faith

In this session, we discussed in detail the levels of faith, which included:

Impersonating Faith (Conditional – No Real Faith) is merely observational—doing what others do without truly grasping the meaning, this faith is based on imitation rather than understanding.

Associating Faith (Conditional – Dependent on Others)– believing based on association rather than personal conviction. Faith is accepted because of the influence of family, friends, or community, but it lacks deep roots.

Probing Faith (Growing Faith) – Faith that develops through personal seeking and experience .- A transition from borrowed faith to personal ownership. There is an active pursuit of truth, questioning, and a desire to confirm beliefs independently.

Solid Faith (Unconditional – Stable Belief) – Faith becomes deeply rooted and stable. While believers continue to grow, they reach a stage where they confidently stand by their beliefs rather than continuously questioning them.

Mature Faith (Unconditional – Fully Developed) – Faith is characterized by complete reliance on God, obedience, and perseverance regardless of circumstances. It is not about perfection but about persistence in faith. This is the faith of spiritual giants who remain committed to God’s will without wavering.

SESSION #3: Common Struggles & Strategies of Faith

In this session, we took an honest look at five common struggles that can shake our faith: doubt, fear and anxiety, worldly distractions, trials and suffering, and feelings of spiritual distance. These challenges are part of the human experience, and at some point, we all face them. Doubt can make us question God’s presence and promises. Fear and anxiety can paralyze us, keeping us from fully trusting in His plan. Worldly distractions pull our focus away from what truly matters. Trials and suffering test our endurance, and moments of spiritual distance can leave us feeling lost and disconnected from God.

But these struggles don’t just happen by chance—there is a spiritual battle happening behind the scenes. We also explored how Satan actively attacks our faith, using calculated tactics to weaken our trust in God. He lures us with temptations, making sin seem appealing or harmless. He places hardships in our path to make us doubt God’s goodness. He deceives us with false prosperity, convincing us that material wealth or success can replace our need for God. He fills our minds with destructive messages—lies about our worth, our identity, and God’s love for us. Perhaps one of his most subtle but dangerous tactics is leading us to believe that talking about faith is enough, when in reality, true faith requires action.

Our ability to understand these struggles and attacks is crucial because it allows us to recognize the enemy’s schemes and stand firm in our faith. The more aware we are, the better equipped we become to overcome these obstacles with God’s strength.

SESSION #4: Maturing Your Faith

In this final session, we discussed breaking the cycle of up-again, down-again faith—feeling strong one moment, then distant or discouraged the next. This instability often comes from misplaced expectations—of ourselves, others, and even God. We overcommit, expect too much from people, misunderstand God’s promises, allow sin to remain in our lives, or get distracted by worldly concerns. These things pull us away from a steady, growing faith.

To develop mature faith, we must take intentional steps:

  • Teach the Gospel – Sharing what we’ve learned strengthens our faith.
  • Practice discerning right from wrong – Spiritual growth comes from daily obedience.
  • Let go of worldly passions – A heart focused on God isn’t swayed by worldly desires.
  • Grow up spiritually – Faith matures when we stop acting like children in our expectations.
  • Release the past – Holding onto guilt and regret keeps us stuck; trusting God moves us forward.

A stable, mature faith isn’t built overnight, but by consistently seeking God, applying His Word, and trusting Him fully, we can break free from the cycle of inconsistency and walk in unwavering faith.

As we wrap up this journey through the meaning, struggles, and growth of faith; one truth stands out—faith is not a one-time decision, but a lifelong pursuit. It begins with believing in who God is and trusting in His promises, but it must also be nurtured, tested, and strengthened through experience.

Will you remain at your current level of faith, ignore the challenges Satan brings to make us doubt God, or BELIEVE that growing into and daily walking in mature faith is absolutely possible, and will you take action, persevere, and daily surrender to God?

God is calling you to a faith that is strong, unwavering, and life-transforming. A faith that doesn’t crumble under pressure but stands firm in every season. A faith that not only believes but lives. The choice is yours—will you step forward and grow?

The question now is:

Where do you go from here?
